State employee contract negotiations

To the editor:
Iím a state employee. The governor wants to cut my pay while I am forced to pick up the duties of my co-workers that have been laid off. He also wants to take away my benefits and eventually replace me with cheap, untrained labor. This is the plight of all state employees. How would you feel if your boss did the same to you? Would you just stand idly by and let that happen?
The private sector says they support us with their taxes. We pay taxes too.
We also support the private sector as consumers. We buy houses, cars, clothing, groceries and lots more. Chances are, a state employee has given you much business. We need to support each other. One hand feeds the other.
Support state employees. What is good for us is good for you. Hopefully, you wonít have to come to that understanding by being the next one facing such unfair treatment by a heartless boss.
