Drainage repairs needed to protect wetlands
By John Behling A report detailing $83,000 in repairs and improvements to the drainage and storm sewer systems in the City of Stacy was presented before a special meeting of the city council, July 28. The aim of the repairs is to control the level of two DNR protected wetlands, #113-W and #142-W, and improve drainage at the intersection of Foster Ave. and Sherman Oaks Trail. The estimated cost of these improvements to the city is $69,500. The report proposes that Twinhomes of Stacy share 25 percent of the cost for a total of $13,700. The improvements will include extension of storm sewers as well as a new concrete approach on Foster Avenue and Stacy Trail. If the project is to be finished before winter, a decision will have to be made by the council at its next meeting, Aug. 12. A representative from Twinhomes will tell the city whether the group accepts the shared cost before then.
