Message from the Sheriffís office

To the editor:
From Dec. 19, 2003 through Jan. 5, 2004, the Chisago County Sheriffís office, along with all countywide law enforcement agencies, will participate in a statewide mobilization to crack down on drinking and driving in an effort to keep the roadways throughout Chisago County safe for the holidays.
Last year there were numerous alcohol-related injuries and deaths on Chisago County roadways, costing the citizens of Chisago County thousands of dollars. This cost is shared by every taxpayer and insurance policy holder.
Nothing is more devastating than losing a loved one. In my career, Iíve had to knock on too many doors and deliver the unthinkable news that someone ñ a spouse, child or best friend ñ wouldnít be coming home again.
The mission of all law enforcement agencies throughout Chisago County is to protect and serve. I am proud of the way our deputies and officers uphold that mission every day. By enforcing impaired driving laws, we protect the safety of every person in our community.
Please drive sober during the holiday season, and letís make 2004 a safe year on the road.

Lt. Keith Hoppe
Chisago County Sheriffís Office
