Tigers pummel Aitkin 78-22

The Tiger girls basketball squad improved to 3-0 on the young season with an impressive 78-22 rout of Aitkin Dec. 11.

Rush City held the Gobblers to single digit scoring in all four quarters, ending by giving up only 2 Aitkin points in the final quarter.

The Tigers poured it on from the start, leading 16-9 after one quarter and extending the lead to 43-13 at the half.

Rush City continued the offense onslaught with 22 points in the third while giving up only 7, to hold a commanding 65-20 going into the final quarter. Another 13 Tiger points in the fourth added up to a 78-22 win.

Rush City was an unstoppable 56 percent from the field, including sinking 5 of 8 three-pointers. The scoring was spread between 12 players, led by senior Mindy Scott with 19 points and senior Ashley Stanley with 10.

Sophomore Heather Dean had 9 points, 7 rebounds and 7 steals for a balanced all-around game. Juniors Laura Cort and Breann Stottler added 8 apiece, and junior Holly Grimes notched 6.

ìThe hot shooting was contagious tonight,î said Stuart Lang, the team's head coach. ìEvery girl that stepped on the floor had confidence that the ball was going to go in.î

The Tigers faced Hinckley at home Tuesday and then travel to take on Frederic Thursday, Dec. 18 before time off for the holiday break.
