Disappointed in levy failure
To the editor: Iíve been in the U.S. Air Force for 14 years traveling all over the world and the United States.Ý Iíve seen outstanding and poor school districts throughout those 14 years of traveling.Ý When I graduated from North Branch High, the school district received excellent support from the community.ÝÝ Itís very disappointing to read North Branch residents continue to deny our kids the tools for education that they deserve.ÝÝ For all you non-supporters ... why?ÝIs your money that important to you that you canít afford a dollar a day? Whatís another $20 - 30 a month in taxes?ÝMost people spend more money supporting their drinking and smoking habits than what the school district requested.ÝFor those who do not have children, wouldnít you prefer to support the district that provides programs that would help keep children off the streets and provide better education?ÝIím just really shocked that these levies have been denied for four years now.ÝThese levies being continuously denied hurts our teachers and students. I live 30 miles south of Washington, D.C., and my children are enrolled in the best school system that Iíve seen in my life.Ý I would drive 100 miles if it meant providing my children a proper education that they deserve.ÝIím really surprised that the community I grew up in has changed so much in the past 14 years.Ý In closing, whether or not you support war, please support your troops who are fighting abroad protecting our freedom that we enjoy every day.
