Paul William HolmPaul William Holm, age 79 of Almelund, died December 13, 2003. He was born March 5, 1924, to John Gustaf and Alice Holm in Center City. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 3 sisters, Uncle Freeman, Aunt Emma and Selma who raised him plus other uncles and aunts and cousins. He is survived by his wife Audrey of 51 years of marriage, daughter Linda Holm, three grandchildren Elizabeth (Joe) Drutschmann, Rachel Bjornstad, John (Angela) Bjornstad and great-grandson Andy Drutschmann. Paul attended Challberg Grade School and Chi-Hi High School. Paul was baptized in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Almelund. In 1939 he was confirmed at Lindstrom in the Methodist Church. He went to live with his Uncle Freeman and Aunt Emma Anderson at the early age of two weeks on their farm north of Center City. In 1937 after the death of his uncle he moved with his two aunts Emma and Selma to Lindstrom. He worked at various jobs while finishing school. When his two aunts passed away he went to work and lived with the Fred Nelson family. He worked for the Nelson Trucking and Farming business. He also drove a school bus for the Lindstrom School District. Paul attended the Riesch School of Auctioneering graduating in May 1947 in Mason City, Iowa. He was drafted to serve his country, which he did proudly. He is a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post. Auctioneering was Paulís favorite job that he enjoyed for over 50 years. When he first started in the auction business there were mostly farm auctions plus a few household ones. Sometime after being in the Auction business Paul sold at two Sale Barns in Cambridge and St. Cloud each week for several years. Paulís other interests were going to basket socials, loved watching football, basketball, and other games. He got to go to the Rose Bowl to see when Minnesota won. That was a big highlight to him. Football was his favorite sport. Paul enjoyed filling his life with his three grandchildren that loved him so very much they kept him full of life and busy. He was an active fireman both in Lindstrom while living there and Almelund for several years serving as chief. He was a member of the Almelund Threshing Show for years. Paul was also a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and was on the church council. Funeral service is on Wednesday Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Almelund with Pastor Brian Bergin. Interment at Almelund Cemetery after the service.
