Whatís ërightí with kids today

To the editor:
Last week, North Branch Area High School students were given the opportunity to donate toys and money to Anonymous Santa. As usual, our students rose to the challenge and provided a great deal to the project.
The total amount donated is not the most important fact here. These are a few of things that are important: the class that, in one day, raised $150 by emptying their lockers, collecting change and writing checks from their own checkbooks. Other classes raised $50-$100 in one day. One student told her teacher that she had three dollars to donate, but while riding the bus on her way to school, learned that a younger student have lunch money ñ she gave the money to him. She told her teacher she hoped that was okay. Some of the math classes collected money to provide homemade fleece blankets and scarves for the project. One organization provided stockings full of gifts for children of all ages while another gave almost $1,000 in toys.
Some people wonder, ìWhatís wrong with kids these days?î Last Friday we were reawakened by whatís RIGHT with kids these days. Students gave generously and selflessly of themselves to provide for those who are in need of their help. During this holiday season, I hope that we can all take a moment to reflect, renew our spirits and offer what we can to make a difference this year.
