Questions property tax increase
To the editor: I feel compelled to comment on the recent article regarding property tax increases. I just about fell off my chair when I read that the county property tax increase would be 12.33 percent. Where in Chisago County would that be? Our property tax statement shows an increase of 21.90 percent over last years 26.00 percent tax increase. It seems to me that the county has complete immunity when it comes to raising property taxes. In our case it seems the sky is the limit, and we have no choice but to just pay the bill. I canít tell you the feelings of helplessness this subject causes me and my family. I wonder if the county realizes the error in our property tax statement and plans on sending us a new one reflecting the 12.33 percent increase. This problem has clearly gotten out of hand, the county cannot continue to expect us to pay this high of an increase year after year. Our taxes are close to $4,000 a year, this translates to $333 a month! With all of the development going on throughout the county, is this what the county is charging everyone? Paul Rice Lindstrom
