Letter: Sober reminder from a son

To the editor:
I would like to remind citizens of the surrounding area to enjoy a safe and sober holiday season. One may recall an article from the Post Review in August 2003 that was titled, ěDead cyclist found in woods near Wyoming.î

The article explained a motorcycle accident that claimed the life of a resident of our community. The cyclist was John Sampsel, my father, from Wyoming, Minn. Due to irresponsibly drinking and then driving, he lost control of his motorcycle and subsequently lost his life after the motorcycle struck a tree off into the ditch.

I bring this to the publicís attention only as a reminder to think logically before drinking and driving. Parents, think about your kids. Imagine what it would be like for them to grow up without you.

As for the younger generation, think about your family and friends, and what they could go through if you are irresponsible and take the wheel after drinking. Extra law enforcement cannot prevent one from drinking and driving.

The act begins with you! Make the right choice. If you choose to drink this holiday season, or anytime for that matter, be responsible enough not to drive. Thank you and Happy Holidays.
