Letter: More kudos for Commissioner Lora Walker

To the editor:
Fifty years from now Iíll be 90 years old. I have kids that are 10 and 12. With grace and good fortune they will have had kids who may have had children of their own within that 50 year span.

Planning is about the future. Itís about these kids to be. I would like to take a moment to thank Commissioner Lora Walker on behalf of my grandchildren and great-grandchildren (to be) for the chance to experience the natural beauty and resources of the county, specifically the Sunrise and St. Croix river valleys as I once did as a kid and continue to do today as a bigger kid.

The reality is these areas are not only beautiful things to look at and experience they are economic tools as well.

Beyond the obvious tourist dollar that these river assets bring to the area (based on a U of M study Chisago County is the most ěday trippedî county in the state) the community statement of what we find important by protecting these vital river valleys contributes very much in the decision of families and businesses in settling down in our community.

Once again I say thanks to Lora Walker and Commissioners Olseen and Montzka for having the foresight of protecting this county for the future generations to come as it is the mandate of our current comp guide plan.

And if I make it to that 90th birthday I plan to send another letter to the editor of this paper crediting you for what the county was able to become due to your stewardship of the future.
