Rush City grads part of Augsburg teamRush City High School graduates Eric Olson, Derek Kuhlman and Alex Kuhlman were members of the 2002 Augsburg College football team. Derek Kuhlman, a 1999 graduate of RCHS, was a defensive lineman for the Auggies this season. His brother, Alex, a 2001 grad of RCHS, was also a defensive lineman for the squad. Olson, a 2001 grad, was an offensive lineman for the Auggies. Derek was among the leaders on the team for total tackles, recording 14 solo tackles and 20 assisted tackles for 40 total. He played in 10 games for the Auggies. He served as a game captain when the Auggies played Gustavus Adolphus College. For his efforts, Derek earned a Coaches Award for the season and was also named to the Augsburg Football Academic Club for maintaining a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Alex played in one game for Augsburg and recorded two tackles. He was named one of the teamís Scout Team Players of the Week for his efforts. Augsburg finished the season with a 2-8 overall record. Olson is the son of Loren Olson and Cheryl Gossen; Derek and Alex are the sons of Glen and Tracie Kuhlman and Richard and Bonnie Carlson. ©ECM Post Review |
