Kudos to emergency personnel
To the editor: Not knowing whether I had an emergency situation, my husband, Art, tried to call the Emergency Room at the Fairview Lakes Hospital in Wyoming at 2:30 in the morning. We just wanted to know if Art should take me to the emergency room or wait until the clinic opened the following morning. The operator said ìyou canít talk to the emergency department you have to call the metro Fairview nurse line, Iíll transfer you.î After waiting on line with music playing for what he thought was a very long time, he hung up and called the operator back. Twice. The third time the operator said he had to wait on the line for at least 15 minutes or more. One hour from the first call a nurse finally came on the line. After discussing my problem, she told us to hang up and dial 911 immediately. Five minutes later a Stacy-Lent Fire Department first responder was at the door. We live out in the country. Soon additional members from the Stacy-Lent Fire Department and the Lake Region EMS Ambulance arrived. Everyone was so very considerate, knowledgeable and professional. We extend a much deserving thank you to all involved. With hindsight, of course, we should have dialed 911 right away. The quick response by the Stacy-Lent Fire Department and the Lake Region EMS Ambulance Service was truly amazing. We were very impressed. We hope that the coming budget cuts do not affect this valuable service to our community. Art and Pat Olive Stacy
