Continuous accusations bother her
To the editor: I have been a resident of Nessel Township for almost 20 years and a government employee for 14 years. During this time, I have always read with interest the various editorials from local residents ñ concerns, kudos and changes. More recently, however, I, as well as my neighbors, have been besieged by unbelievably slanderous editorials from Thomas L. Hennemann. Using a widely distributed local newspaper as a platform for personal vendettas is particularly disgusting and disturbing. As I have never met the man, Iím not exactly sure what Thomas Hennemannís background is, whether he has experience at being a township officer or a township employee. By comments he has made, it appears he is aware of the amount of time and dedication involved in being either of the two. He does seem to enjoy, however, accusing the individuals elected by the majority of voters of the township of various intentional misdoings. It would seem he is knowledgeable as to the workings and rules governing townships, but he states, and I quote ìwho ever hears of negotiation of a labor union contract with the employees sitting in ñ on the clock ñ helping negotiate their own contract?î Well, Mr. Hennemann, I have been a union steward for over 10 years and every contract was negotiated with the employer with employees present, on company time as well as after hours. In case you care to be educated, the term used to discuss labor issues away from the table is called ìcaucus.î I would be willing to bet the 49ers wonít ìlaugh till the tears come.î The job of a township officer/employee is usually a thankless and time-consuming job. Many years ago, the office of a township officer was more simple. With todayís ever-changing legislative rules, the job is much more involved and legal ramifications abound (as Iím sure Mr. Hennemann can attest). I would suggest that Thomas L. Hennemann file for office, go through the election process and if elected, uphold the duties of the office, before calling the kettle black. Cathy Johnson Stanchfield
