Viking wrestlers place fifth at invite

The North Branch wrestling team took an overall fifth place at their own invitational meet last weekend.
North Branch scored 155.5 with Apple Valley taking 164.5, Menomonie scoring 170, Willmar at 204 and Wayzata winning the invite with 204.5.
Jeff Holmgren, 103, and Josh Villella, 145, both took first place titles.
Villella had been missing from the line up for a the Vikings, but returned to the mat to show he hadnít lost any ground.
Holmgren usually wrestles 112, but dropped to 103 and secured a title in that weight.
Vince Zaffke, 130, won third place in his weight.
Fourth place winners were Jack Xiong, 119; Cody Gallmeier, 135; Sam Suparat, 160; and Jarrod Swanson, 215.
Coming off the mats with fifth place individual finishes were Josh Schwab, 112; Joe Holmgren, 140; Luke Keocher, 171, James Kvale, 189; and Jeremy Bergerson, 275.
Alex Gerszewski, 152, won sixth place.

Milaca 54, North Branch 18
At the Jan. 7 Milaca dual meet, four North Branch wrestlers won their matches.
They were Jeff Holmgren, 112, decision; Joe Holmgren, 145, decision; Jarrod Swanson, 215, fall; and Jeremy Bergerson, 275, fall.
