Martin A. Orlando
Martin Anthony Orlando Sr., of North Branch, formerly of Braham, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003 at Green Acres Nursing Care in North Branch at the age of 102 years, 8 months and 12 days. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003 at St.ís Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Braham with Father Zimmer and Deacon Don Tzinski officiating. Music was provided by organist Deb Aulich and sololists Judy Remitz, Darci Remitz and Rachel Piersdorf. Pallbearers were Wayne Brokke, Kent Johnson, Steve Remitz, Neil Bauernfeind, Harley Johnson Jr. and Ron Piersdorf. Interment was in the St.ís Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. Martin was born on May 6, 1900 in Naples, Italy. He traveled to America at the age of seven and resided in St. Paul until his retirement when he moved to the Rush Lake area. Martin married Margie Lyman in 1927 and they enjoyed 67 years together. He made his living as a truck driver and dispatcher. He was the Minnesota Twins #1 fan and also enjoyed All Star Wrestling, the Minnesota Vikings (when they were winning), woodworking and fishing. Martin was preceded in death by his wife Margie, son Martin Jr., daughter Agnes and granddaughter Maureen. He is survived by two daughters Margie and husband Harley Johnson Sr. of North Branch, MN and Deloris and husband Thomas McKenzie of Rush Lake, MN; one brother Louis Orlando of California; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Arrangements handled by Rock Mankie Burial and Cremation Service of Braham, Minn.
