Elsie M. Strelow
Elsie Marie Hannah Strelow, of Braham, passed away at the Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge on Dec. 19, 2002 at the age of 96 years. Funeral services were held on Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at the St. Stephenís Lutheran Church of Braham. The Rev. Harvey Johnson officiated. Music was provided by pianist Carol Schmakel and vocalist Jon Scheele. Pallbearers were Jeff Carlson, Scott Carlson, Randy Strelow, David Strelow, Sonny Strelow and Blake Rielly. Interment was in the St. Johnís Cemetery of East Rush Lake. Elsie, daughter of Frank and Maria Swanson, was born July 16, 1906 at home in Royalton Township, Pine County, Minn. She attended the Greeley School and later graduated from Rush City High School Class of 1923. After she graduated high school Elsie worked in St. Paul as a bookkeeper for St. Paul Book and Stationary, and Brown and Bigelow. She was united in marriage to William Frank Strelow on June 14, 1930 in St. Paul and they made their home on the farm east of Braham near Rush Lake where they had since lived. William died on July 29, 1984 and Elsie continued to live at home. She entered Grandview Christian Home in 1998. She is survived by: two sons, Marlyn (Lois) Strelow of Mora, Willie (Judi) Strelow of Braham; one daughter Donna Mae Carlson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 31 great- grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William, five brothers, two sisters, one great-granddaughter Misty Strelow. Arrangements handled by Rock Mankie Burial and Cremation Service of Braham.
