928 families served at food pantry

To the editor:
Now that we are into 2003, hopefully, things are getting back to ěnormalî after the holidays. Itís always interesting to go back and reflect on the past year ń to think about those who have made a difference in our lives. One of many things that come to mind is the generosity of those who have donated to the North Branch Food Pantry. The donations came in a variety of forms including cash, food, time, and talent. Perhaps you called or stopped by to find out ways to support the Food Pantry. Some have just stopped in to say ěhi,î and talk for a few minutes.
In 2002, there were 928 families (3,503 individuals) who used the Food Pantry. In 2001, we served 601 families (2,140 individuals). With our current economy and government situations, you can almost bet those numbers will go up. The community donated a little over 54,000 pounds of food and household items in 2002. The Food Pantry gave out over 56,000 pounds. As you can see by the number of families served, your continued donations are so important to the Food Pantry. The donations are most important to those we serveÖyour friend, family, and neighbor.
Thank you to the individuals, children, families, schools, churches, community groups, businesses, and foundations that donated. Thanks to those who have taken the lead in fund-raisers or food drives, and donated their proceeds to the Food Pantry. Whether a large or small donation, you were thinking of those in need.
Lastly, thanks to the North Branch Food Pantry volunteers who have donated their time, talents, care, and compassion for their community. I am very grateful and blessed to have you volunteer. If you would like to volunteer, donate, or use the Food Pantry, please call (651) 674-8313. We hope to have your continued support in 2003.
