Boys hockey still searching for win
The Vikings boys hockey team, in its first season going out on its own after co-oping for several years, continues to improve individually but is still looking for a second win this year. Last week, the team fell to Princeton 8-2. The Tigers scored early in the first period, but were answered by a goal from North Branchís Marty Yackel, assisted by Levi Disrud. Princeton added three more in the period for a 4-1 lead after one, and went on to pick up two goals in the second for a 6-1 lead going into the final period. Princeton started the scoring with a goal in the third, but North Branch battled back to the net with a goal from Tony Thiry, assisted by Chase Coffel before the Tigers added another with seconds remaining for the 8-2 win. This week, the team was scheduled to take on Mora Tuesday and Pine City Thursday.
