Weslie W. Wilcox

Weslie Wilcox of North Branch formerly of Harris and Sunrise areas died Saturday, January 25, 2003 at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud at the age of 81.
Weslie W. Wilcox was born August 14, 1921 in Sunrise Minnesota the eighth child of George and Hildegarde Wilcox. He attended school in Sunrise and as a young man served two different times in the Civilian Conservation Corps. Weslie served in the U.S. Army during WWII from July 7, 1942 to January 1946 as part of the eleventh Armored Division Maintenance Battalion. He served in the Ardennes Rhineland and Central Europe in two battles.
Weslie married Pearl V. Swanson on June 5, 1954 in Peaceful Valley near Sunrise. They lived in the Harris area most of their lives except for four years when they lived near Santa Rosa, california. Wes worked for the H&G Equipment Company in Cotati, California. After they returned to Minnesota, he worked as a mechanic at Wayside Equipment in Harris. He later worked at Donavan Company in New Brighton as a machinist and then as a heavy duty mechanic for the Chisago County Highway Department. In later years Wes and Pearl spent fifteen winters at the McAllen Mobile Park in McAllen Texas where they met many wonderful friends.
Wes was preceded in death by his parents and his seven brothers Claire, Charlie, John Albert, Fred, Archie, Galen and Stanley Wilcox.
Wes is survived by his wife Pearl, one sister Hidegarde Alvarado of Sacramento, CA, three sisters-in-law; Jewell Wilcox of Cambridge, Deloris Wilcox of North Branch, Elsie (Jack) Ouradnik of Beroun, brother-in-law; Chet Swanson of Harris.
Weslie was baptized, confirmed and attended church faithfully until he wasnít able to. He had a strong belief and cared for his Lord and family. He was a member of Fish Lake Lutheran Church at Stark.
Rev. Phil Gotsch will officiate at a memorial service for Wes Wilcox at 11 a.m. Thursday January 30, 2003 at the Fish Lake Lutheran Church in Stark. Visitation for Wes Wilcox will be one hour prior to the service only at the church. Interment in the Sunrise Cemetery at Sunrise, Minn. will follow a time of fellowship and lunch at Fish Lake Lutheran church.
Funeral arrangements for Wes Wilcox of North Branch and formerly of Harris and Sunrise are being made by the Funeral and Cremation Service of Rush City; Olson Chapel.
