County administrator resigns
At the final 2002 meeting of the Chisago County Board of Commissioners, Dec. 30., County Administrator James Thoreen submitted his resignation effective March 1. He said he was resigning for personal reasons and pursuing employment possibilities in the public and private sectors. The search for the position Thoreen holds took four months in 1992; he assumed the administratorís position in January of 1993. Noting the length of time it took to find an administrator back then, in his letter to the board, Thoreen said he would offer his services to ìfoster a smooth transitioní and would remain with the county until a new administrator is found. He said he would not leave before March 1. Thoreen also told the commissioners he would not be a part of the selection process for the new administrator. He suggested that the board take time to examine the job description in order to understand what is expected of the person in the position. Thoreen suggested that the board determine what attributes they want in a new administrator, such as education, experience and leadership and work styles that would best suit the countyís needs now and in the future. The only action taken last week was to accept, with regret, Thoreenís resignation.
