Gaylon J. Marty
Gaylon John Marty, 69, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2003, at his home in rural Rush City, Minn., surrounded by his family. Born April 11, 1934, Gaylon was the son of John F. and Viola (Hendrickson) Marty. He was a student at the Stevens School through the 7th grade and then went on to attend Rush City High School, graduating from there in 1952. In 1955, Gaylon enlisted in the United States Army. He served overseas in Taiwan, Formosa in radio signal repair and maintenance, and was honorably discharged in 1957. Upon his return to Minnesota, Gaylon went into dairy farming with his brother, Gordon. They continued to work together from 1958 until the early 1990s. In 1960, Gaylon was united in marriage to Lorraine Anderson, also of Rush City. While farming, Gaylon was involved in DHIA and the Mid-America Dairy Association. He was also active in the Christian Action Council (a pro-life organization), and spoke at various area churches on behalf of the Gideons. Gaylon is survived by his wife, Lorraine; son and daughter-in-law Jonathan and Rachel Marty, Rush City; daughter Carolyn Marty, St. Paul, Minn.; grandsons Jacob, Jeremy, Joshua and Justin all of Rush City; brother and sister-in-law Gordon and Margaret Marty; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Duane Anderson and his wife Judy; and Doris Wolf, all of Rush City; aunts Laura Anderson, Pine City, Minn., and Effie Hendrickson, Rush City; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son. The funeral service was at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 26, 2003 at the Pine City Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Tim Adams officiating. Eulogist was Lyle Anderson. Music was Virginia Shuey, Glenn Larsen and Adrienne Roubinek. Casket bearers were Robert Behrendt, Bruce Marty, Blaine Marty, Steve Marty, Dale Anderson and Brad Anderson. Military rites were by the Grothe-Jacobson VFW Post #6692. Interment was at the First Lutheran Church in Rush City. Arrangements were by the Swanson Chapel, Funeral & Cremation Service, Pine City, Minn.
