Services extended, annexation OKd
By Barbara Brown The City of Stacy is growing by the month, it seems. At last weekís city council meeting, the council approved an extension of the cityís sewer and water service south to connect recently annexed properties. The council agreed to let contracted engineers Bonestroo and Assoc. seek bids for the work. The sewer and water extensions will serve the Foxtail Woods and Woodside Royal Meadows and other future development to the south of the city. Also at the June 24 meeting, the council accepted an annexation request for acreage south of the Foxtail property, also on Forest Boulevard. In other development news, the owner of land near the intersection of CR 30 and CR 19 asked the council to put off a rezoning request he had filed until the sale of the land could be solidified. The cityís planning commission approved the zone change last month from R-1 to R-2. The plot is expected to be developed into Twin Homes of Stacy. The council, therefore, could not vote June 24 on whether to approve the preliminary plat for Twin Homes because it needs to be rezoned first. Also at the meeting, the council approved allowing Matthew Davidson to clean up and landscape the city hall site for his Eagle Scout project. Davidson told the council the cost was estimated at $1,000. The city said it would donate up to $500 if Davidson also asked the fire department to share in the donation. The Stacy Lions are donating $500 for the project. The council also set a public hearing for July 22 at 6:30 p.m. to take public testimony about proposed fee increases for several city ordinances and documents.
