Verilyn Swanson

Verilyn Swanson, age 63, passed away at his home in Forest Lake on Wednesday, June 25.
He was born on Feb. 25, 1940, one of eight children to Carl and Inga Swanson and attended Rush Point School before enlisting in the National Guard. He served his country at Fort Bliss, Texas. He was employed for many years by Dart Trucking before recently retiring.
Verilyn had a great love of duck hunting, fishing, gardening, doing projects and telling stories. He especially enjoyed their annual trip to Snug Harbor on Ball Club Lake near Deer River, Minnesota and he also dearly loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lois, daughter Shelly (Pat) OíDonovan of Hinckley, son Jeff Swanson of Kimball, daughter Monica (Danny) Wood of Grey Court, South Carolina, step-son Tom (Linda)
Michalson of Motley, step-daughter Dawn Johnson of St. Paul, step-son Edward Buck of St. Paul, sisters Violet Freedlund, Delores Mold, Gloria Rohlf, all of Rush City, Arlys (Doug) Smith of Ramsey, brothers Delbert (Florence) Swanson and Larry (Dede) Swanson, both of Rush City, sisters-in-law
Vivian Swanson of Ham Lake, Bonnie Swanson of Grantsburg and brother-in-law Bill Peterson of Harris. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, four great-grand children and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Inga Swanson, sister Elaine Peterson and brothers Ernie and Marlo Swanson.
Funeral services were held at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush City on Monday, June 30 with the Rev. Laurie OíShea officiating. Music was provided by Jan Goebel accompanied by organist Dianne Kirchberg. Pallbearers were grandsons Troy Johnson, Shawn Ausmus, Ryan Ausmus, Aaron Ausmus, Jerod Buck and Michael Swanson with the interment at the Calvary Lutheran ìNorthviewî Cemetery at Rush Point.
