Learn about renewable energy at agricultural fairDo you want to learn about the potential for renewable energy in Minnesota? Would you like to sample some of the best local food Minnesota has to offer? Are you interested in new advancements in agriculture that make farming more efficient, profitable, and are better for the environment? The 3rd Annual Windy River Renewable Energy and Sustainable Agriculture Fair will cover all of these topics and many more. The fair is at England Prairie Farm, between Staples and Wadena off Hwy. 10 near Verndale on Aug.16-17. The fair goes from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.to 5 p.m. Sunday. Rural communities are an integral part of Minnesotaís landscape The fair is an opportunity for citizens, farmers and the next generation to learn about exciting innovations in renewable energy and agriculture. These innovations will enable rural communities to sustain themselves far into the future. This is a fair about how to build a better future. There will be live demonstrations of working wind and solar electric projects. Several exhibitors will be on hand share information with fair participants about developments in their fields. Workshops will be held all day Saturday and part of Sunday covering a wide range of topics. On Saturday only, there will be a special discussion session with local legislators, focused on state renewable energy and agriculture policy decisions that were made this past session year. There will also be workshops for kids and plenty of opportunities to sample local food. Taste the difference of locally and sustainably-grown foods, and learn how farmers produce these delicious products.
