Hugo E. PearsonHugo Emanuel Pearson, age 84 of North Branch, Minn., died on Friday, July 25, 2003 at the Fairview Lakes Hospital in Wyoming, Minn. Hugo fell from a ladder while painting the garage on Thursday and died of complications of the fall. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 29, at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in North Branch with Rev. Loren Mullum officiating. After leaving home he worked in Brimson, Minn. at a CCC camp before starting work for Northern Pacific Railroad. In 1942 Hugo joined the Army. All of his military service was overseas except for five months. He served with the 2nd Armored Division during the invasion of Africa at Sati, the 52nd Amphibious Battalion was using Dukws for the invasion of Sicily, the 45th Division for the Amphibious landing in Salernol, and he also participated with the British forces for the landing at Anzio, then on to Rome and next to Caralien, France. After the war, in 1945, Hugo married Fern Oberg of North Branch. He went back to work for the railroad and worked there until his retirement. Hugo enjoyed family and friends, but he had to be busy all the time. He would be painting, refinishing furniture, working on a stained-glass project all at the same time. He truly was a man of many talents, you name it and he could do it or figure out how it could be done. Hugo was always there to help people if they needed it from mowing lawns to keeping flowers alive in the cemetery. Hugo was there. Hugo is survived by his wife Fern of 58 years, daughter Janet Satterlie and husband Steven; two grandchildren Robert and Michael; one brother Wilmer; one sister Fran Waldhoff, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
