Garrell H. Wolff
Garrell Howard Wolff died Thursday, June 26, 2003 of natural causes at his property in Beroun, Minn., at the age of 68 years. Funeral service was held Tuesday, July 1, at the Swanson Chapel in Pine City with the Reverend Vicki VanderVegt officiating. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn. at a later date. Garrell was born May 9, 1935 in Howard Lake, Minnesota, and was the second of three sons born to Ted and Martha (Yeager) Wolff. Garrell served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and after two years in the military, received his honorable discharge in 1957. On June 8, 1957, Garrell was united in marriage to the former Arlette Gast. They made their home in the Maple Plain and Waverly areas of Minnesota, and welcomed into the family their daughter, Rhonda, and their two sons, Bradley and Fred. During this time Garrell was employed at Briggs Transportation as a truck driver, and earned several safe driving awards. In the fall of 1969, Garrell and Arlette purchased a farm near Rock Creek, Minn. In 1971, Garrell decided to give up his job as a truck driver and began farming full time. Due to problems with his health, he retired from the farm in 1978. In 1990 he became an independent truck driver; retiring completely in 1994 at the age of 60 years. Garrellís favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing, enjoying nature, and baking. He especially loved watching and caring for birds, and was well known for his delicious homemade desserts. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Rhonda and Leonard Waletzko, Pine City, Minn.; sons and daughters-in-law: Bradley and Patricia Wolff, Canby, Minn. and Fred and Shannon Wolff, St. Croix Falls, Wisc.; grandchildren: Brad (Rita) Waletzko, Diana Waletzko, Alex Higgins, Erica and Brian Wolff, Landon, Valerie, and Vanessa Wolff; companion: Wanda Johnson, Pine City; former wife: Arlette Gast, Rock Creek; brothers and sisters-in-law: Robert and Velma Wolff, Orono, Minn. and Perry and DeDe Wolff, Wayzata, Minn.; nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Martha Wolff.
