We like to have our say in things

To the editor:
I would like to thank the board (Chisago County Board) for its efforts to give citizens a chance to speak at meetings via the citizenís forum.
However, I do not believe a person should be allowed to use this time to chastise a certain group or type of other citizens.
A county resident made mention of old rural residents in our county as to not paying their share of the costs of operating a public library.
He also went on to say that these rural county residents are illiterate and forceful in their tactics in trying to put a stop to certain projects.
Iím here to tell you that if this statement is fact, there may be some of the same type of persons living in the municipalities also.
The library project is not a bad project. It is a project that, in these current times of uncertainty of our future, also a time of severe budget cuts and restraints at our own county level, must be reviewed and studied as to need very carefully.
It could happen at a time down the road if properly planned for.
Again let me state: We township residents are not old, crotchety and illiterate residents of this county, we are people who like to have our say in some things also. Thanks.
Gene W. Olson
Lent Township resident
