Stacy code violations reported

By Barbara Brown
Stacyís new building inspector has been hard at work enforcing codes around the city.
Jack Kramer was hired last month to inspect the town for building and zoning code violations and he presented his first report to the council at its June 10 meeting.
According to the report, Kramer issued four building permits in May, two of which had not been released because he was waiting for payment.
One permit was for a private property addition and another was for work in the Stacy mobile home park.
The city will hold a public hearing just before the start of its next council meeting June 24 regarding public nuisances on Jim Nelsonís property at 31020 Gable Ave.
Nelson had been notified by letters dated April 2 and April 22 to clear the violations on his property. ìMr. Nelson has made no attempt to abate the violation,î Kramer wrote in his report.
The council could order Nelson to simply clear up the violation or it could order its maintenance staff to clean up the property and bill Nelson.
Should the case go to court, Nelson could receive a $500 fine and up to 90 days in jail for violating the cityís zoning ordinance.
Other violations:
Mel Aslakson, violation of city sign ordinance. He was notified on May 10 to remove candidacy signs from around the city.
Sheri Douglas, violation of city sign ordinance. The sign on CR 19 for the BP gas station was in the right of way. Douglas moved the sign.
Trent Schoon, violation of the state septic system regulations and city ordinances addressing health. Schoon told Kramer he has lined up a contractor to install a new septic system.
Tom Wenzel, violation of public nuisance ordinance. No correction as of the meeting time.
Mark Sullivan, violation of public nuisance ordinance. No correction as of the meeting time.
Dennis Mondry, under investigation regarding possible public nuisance violation.
Greg Boleen, Forest Haven developer. Boleen was told by letter dated May 30 that a fire damaged house on the property must be removed.
Also at the meeting, the council:
ï Received a report on the cityís water quality that did not indicate any concerns.
ï Allowed Archibald to spend up to $6,000 to repair two lift station motors.
ï Ratified a motion recognizing Stacy Daze on Aug. 2 and a dance and fireworks on Sept. 6. The Lions Club was granted a liquor license for the events.
