Slow-no wake rule in effect on some area lakesFrom Capt. Douglas Sampson, Chisago County Sheriffís office Due to the recent heavy rainfall in the Chisago County area, the water level in several area lakes has risen dramatically. This has caused specific lakes in the Chisago Lakes area to rise over the designated high water elevation and puts Chisago County ordinance #001115-5 in effect. During the periods of high water, no person shall operate a watercraft at a greater than slow-no wake speed within 300 feet of the shoreline of the following lakes: Chisago Lake, North Lindstrom Lake, South Lindstrom Lake, North Center Lake and South Center Lake. Slow-No Wake means the operation of a watercraft at the lowest possible speed necessary to maintain steerage and in no case greater than 5 miles per hours. These restrictions will remain in effect until it is determined that lake levels have dropped below the designated high water level. ©ECM Post Review |
