By Barbara Brown
At the North Branch City Council meeting May 27, the council and residents found out about a big company that the city has been talking with to build in North Branch.
According to a brief report given by Finance Director Dave Stutelberg, the Polaris company is considering buying 500 acres in North Branch and 500 acres in Lent Township on which to build a research facility.
Stutelberg stressed that the discussions are preliminary, but are looking positive. Stutelberg said he reported this information because several residents had asked about who it was the city was in discussions with.
Further information on the development of the Polaris facility was not discussed at the meeting and was unavailable at press time.
Also at the meeting, the council approved a variance and final plat resolution for Timber Trace, a plat of four lots to be located at the end of 358th Street on the border of Lent and North Branch.

LaMont will leave the force June 10. Officer Tim Olson will take over LaMontís duties for the 2003-2004 school year and a new officer will replace Olson in the departmentís patrol unit.
