North Branch girls golf wrap up
Submitted by Dave Ambers, NB girls head coach The final standings for the Rum River Conference golf season were as follows: Team Points 1) Milaca 31 2) Foley 26 3) Chisago Lakes 24 4) North Branch 20 5) Pine City 18 6) STMA 13 7) Princeton 5 8) Big Lake 4 9) Mora 3 The girls can be very proud of this 4th place finish in the RRC. At the beginning of the season, we had two goals. The first was to improve. We did that. The girls improved quite dramatically during the season. The second goal was to improve our position in the conference. We did that, too. The team was both young and inexperienced. Despite that, the girls really improved individually and bonded as a team. Individually, the girls did very well. Danielle Nelson became more consistent during the season and seemed to really enjoy herself playing on the JV. Kelsey Perreault showed a lot of improvement and proved to herself that sheís capable of some pretty good golf. 8th graders Lacee Scherer and Amy Aho became a very important part of the team and each earned All-Conference Honorable Mention recognition. Juniors Hanna Lindberg and Sara Schwalbe were our team leaders and their efforts were rewarded with spots on the All-Conference squad. Congratulations to the girls for all their hard work. Special thanks to their parents for being so supportive of their daughters and to the teachers who have been so understanding at all the classtime the girls have had to miss from class. Anyone who has played the game knows that golf can be both humbling and frustrating. Despite the setbacks and frustrations, the girls were very positive and we hope that carries over to the 2004 season.
