Opinion

Elected official should set example

To the editor:
I do not appreciate the sarcastic tone of Twyla Ringís letter to Governor Pawlenty in the March 12 issue of the Post Review.Ý
There are many other more respectful ways to state your opposition to a political leaderís decisions than with a very sarcastic tone andÝdistastefulÝremarks that just lead in circles around an issue that nobody has a solution to.
ÝIt takes more than one person to make a stateís budget and more than one person to break it.ÝI, as a college student, am in one of the groups that is most affected by the budget cuts. I am by no means happy that my school is cutting programs and raising tuition at least 15 percent, but even college students have found a more organized and effective way to lobby against these tuition hikes.
I think that a former elected official should be somebody who sets an example of how to respect the government; Twyla Ringís letter did just the opposite.
