Children FIRST club successful
To the editor: Youths, parents and volunteers rated the fall Children FIRST Club a huge success. The Children FIRST Club is an after school program for North Branch youths in grades four through eight. This winter we averaged 67 youths per session. children stay after school for a snack and sign up for a session led by volunteers. These sessions involve games, cooking, crafts and hobbies. A huge thanks to this sessions volunteers: Sue Humble, Betty Hestekin, Nancy Conger, Joan Audette, Loretta Anderson, Jackie Scheldorf, Gigi Schmeling, Bob Waldron, Cyndi Carroll, Hope Moulton, Mary Schmitz, Linda Rambow, Sue Drabek, Doreen Snell, Tena Eells, Heidi Johnson, Wayne Schwalbe, Cindy Johnson, Jane Begich-Johnston, Tom Koplitz, Barbara Sandeen and Heather Bibeau. Thanks to the Chisago County Extension Office for organizing and providing snacks. We also thank North Branch Community Ed staff members Jeanne Leland, Joan Audette and Gigi Schmeling, and North Branch Middle School for hosting Children FIRST Club. And huge thanks to the kids for attending and the parents for picking their children up on time and continuing to make this project a great success. The Children FIRST Initiative works to create a community where adults care about young people and all youths feel valued by adults.
