Carole Vernette (Reese) Johnson, age 77, died on March 20, 2003 at the Fairview Lakes Hospital in Wyoming, Minn.
Carole was born in Sunrise, Minn. to Agnes (Anderson) and Lester Reese on Dec. 29, 1925. As a child the family moved to many different locations before settling near Almelund. Carole met Lloyd Johnson while she was working for Elmer and Mable Moe. Carole and Lloyd were married shortly after his return from WWII. The wedding celebration took place on June 29, 1946.
The newly married couple began their life together at Lloydís brotherís farm with seven cows. Three of which were wedding presents. They rented Iverís farm until the fall of 1948. In October of 1948 they bought their own farm near Palmdale, where Carole helped make a successful farm by milking cows, feeding calves, stacking hay and raising her vegetable garden. Though Carole refused to drive a tractor or truck.
Carole loved taking care of her family and flowers. In the spring she could hardly wait for the pussy willows, tulips, and wildflowers to start their new season of brilliant colors. She loved her family, friends, and community. She was a member of Women of the ELCA, Phoebe Circle, Alme-lund Volunteers, Palmdale Altruist Club, VFW Auxiliary, and Almelund Threshing Company.
