Urges nay vote on super gag rule

To the editor:
I urge our local legislators to vote ěnayî on the ěSuper Gag Ruleî which would deny state funding to any medical organization that provides abortion information to women. The rule would force Planned Parenthood, for example, to close eight or more clinics statewide. Similar organizations would be forced to take like steps.
This is shortsighted. I try to understand peopleís anti-choice stance.
I cannot, however, understand why we would want to muzzle organizations that provide information that can prevent the need to choose by providing information and services to prevent pregnancy in the first place. These clinics provide STD and pregnancy testing, reproductive health exams, contraception and counseling to primarily uninsured and low-income women.
The law would force doctors and hospitals to decide between giving their patients full medical information and retaining their state funding.
This is definitely the wrong ěchoice.î
