Defense looks strong in two Vikings losses

The North Branch baseball team allowed only 4 runs in two games last week, but was unable to make an offensive showing in either game, resulting in two more losses.
The Vikings faced Rum River Conference foes Foley and Mora last week. On May 6, the Vikes fell to the Falcons 2-1 and on May 8 to the Wolves 2-0.
North Branch out-hit Foley 4-3 in the loss.
Both teams were held scoreless through the first five innings, until Foley came up with 2 runs in the top of the sixth. The Vikings rallied in the bottom of the seventh, as Patrick Ryan reached on a double and was driven home on a single from Mike LeVoir. The threat would end there, with a 2-1 Vikings loss.
LeVoir pitched the complete game for the loss, allowing only 3 hits and striking out 1. Dominic Stahley and Eddie Meier also picked up singles in the game.
The Mustangs scored 2 in the third inning to take the 2-0 shutout from the Vikes.
North Branch struggled at the plate as Ryan and Jeremy Anderson tallied the 2 hits in the game.
Jake Anderson pitched a strong game for the loss, striking out 5 and allowing 6 hits.
The losses bring North Branchís record to 2-13 overall, 0-9 in the RRC. This week, the team was scheduled to take on Milaca Tuesday and Pine City Thursday in two RRC games.
