Girls golf wins tri-meet at home
The North Branch girls golf team hosted Foley and St. Michael-Albertville in a Rum River Conference tri-meet last Friday, and came away with a first place finish. The meet started amidst a steady drizzle. It was about 60 degrees and the wind switched from the east to the west during the match. Fortunately, the rain stopped and it turned out to be a pleasant round. The Vikings team finished with a low of 199 for first, followed by Foley with 225 and STMA with 245. Lacee Scherer led the North Branch team with a 50. Other team scores were Hanna Lindberg, 57, Kelsey Perreault, 58 and Sara Schwalbe and Amy Aho, both with 60. On May 8, the team took part in the 10-team Milaca Invite. North Branchís score of 450 gave the team fifth place in the meet. Foley took first with 388, followed by Milaca in second with 400. Schwalbe and Aho turned in the low scores for the Vikes, with rounds of 109. Lindberg had a 111, Scherer a 121 and Perreault a 128. This week, the team was scheduled to face Princeton and Big Lake Tuesday in its final RRC tri-meet of the season and finish out the regular season with an important RRC 18-hole meet Thursday at Milaca. Section preliminaries for the squad will begin Wednesday, May 21.
