Girls golf ends season with strong finish
The nine Rum River Conference schools met at Milaca in two nine hole conference meets May 15. The weather was nearly perfect ń low 70s and light winds. In this meet, the teams earned a point for each team they defeated. The Vikings girls finished in third place with a team total of 197. Chisago Lakes finished with the same score, but took second place in a tie-breaker with the Vikes. Milaca won the meet with a 185. Individual honors for the team went to Amy Aho, with rounds of 46 and 51. Sara Schwalbe had rounds of 47 and 51, Hanna Lindberg turned in 49 and 54, Kelsey Perreault had identical rounds of 55 and Lacee Scherer ended with 57 in both rounds. ěOur round of 197 was our best score of the year,î Head Coach Dave Ambers said. ěCombined with the 204 we recorded last Tuesday it gives us our two best team scores at the right time of the season.î He is hopeful that the teamís strong finish at the end of the regular season can propell them into a top finish in the Section 7AA tournament, scheduled to start today, May 21 at Grand Rapids.
