Observe moment of remembrance
To the editor: Memorial Day ñ May 26. Where will you be? Not everyone will attend a service at a cemetery, church or community hall. But we can all take one minute to think about those who died for our freedom. Memorial Day was established to honor those who died in service to our nation. Today we honor all veterans, and we remember our friends and relatives. On a poster are the words, ìOne Nation, One Moment,î to remind us that we can take part in an act of national unity in remembering those Americans who gave their lives in service to their country. The White House Commission on the Nation Moment of Remembrance was formally established by an act of Congress. You are asked to participate in the National Moment of Remembrance. At 3 p.m. this Memorial Day, simply stop what you are doing and think for one minute about those who died for your freedom. If you are driving, turn on your vehicleís headlights. Honor those who have died. Give thanks for those men and women who are serving today. It is a minute of reflection that everyone can spare. Beverly Otterness American Legion Auxiliary Unit 85
