Season ends for NB girls golfThe North Branch girls golf team played in the Section 7AA Golf tournament at the beautiful Sugarbrooke golf course south of Grand Rapids on Wednesday, May 21. The course was in very good condition for mid-May in northern Minnesota. The weather was nice and the girls really seemed to enjoy playing there, Head Coach Dave Ambers said. It was the first day of a two day event ñ for the first time. The top three teams and individuals who came in with 94 or fewer strokes return to play the second day of the tournament on Memorial Day. The individuals who led the field included Krista Swanson (FL) 79, Kimbra Kosak (GR) 84, Kelsey Kruger (GR) 84 and Christie Brink (FL) 86. For the Vikings, juniors led the way. Hanna Lindberg was low with 100 and Sara Schwalbe was next with 103. Eighth graders Lacee Scherer, with a 107 and Amy Aho with a 116 were next and ninth grader Kelsey Perreault finished with a 121. ìI was very pleased with the way this very young team handled the tournament and the long trip up there,î Ambers said. This experience should help them next year. I hope I speak for all of them when I say that I can hardly wait for next season.î ©ECM Post Review |
