Rush City baseball shuts out OnamiaThe Rush City baseball squad suffered a loss and earned a win to end its regular season last week, in games against Great River Conference foes Onamia and Hinckley-Finlayson. The Tigers shut out Onamia 10-0 May 20 in a night game in Rush City. The Rush City bats came alive during the outing. The team totalled 12 hits, with five players picking up 2 hits each. Josh Munchow earned the win, pitching 6 innings and striking out 5. Dan Gamache came up with his first hit at the varsity level in the sixth inning, hitting a single. Collecting 2 hits each were: juniors Kellin Sybrant and Brent Freeman, and seniors Jeff Hrdlichka, Dustin Willert and Dylan Lindman. ìWe played very sound in all areas of the game,î Head Coach Bob Schlagel said. The Jaguars handed Rush City a 6-1 loss May 22 to end the regular season. The Tigers had 10 hits on the day, but were unable to put any rallies together to win. Sybrant led the offense with 3 hits. The Tigers end the regular season 8-5 in the conference, 10-7 overall. Subsection north semifinals were set for May 27, pitting the Tigers against Onamia at Isle, with finals scheduled for Thursday, May 29. ©ECM Post Review |
