Leon George SkeltonLeon George Skelton, age 85, of North Branch, Minn., died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. Memorial services will be at St. Gregoryís Catholic Church in North Branch on Wednesday, MAy 28. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment will be at St. Josephís Catholic Cemetery in North Branch. Memorial may be sent to St. Gregoryís Catholic Church or a charity of choice. Leon was born on Aug. 8, 1917 to Seward and Laura (Ulvick) Skelton in Moose Lake, Minn. He graduated from Moose Lake High School and then attended the University of Minnesota receiving his Bachelor of Science Pharmacy degree in 1939. On Dec. 2, 1940 he married Jeanette Bauer of Barnum, Minn. To this marriage four children were born. Leon served in the Navy during World War II at Okinawa Campaign from 19440-1946. His rank was Pharmacist Mate 2nd Class. After the war he made North Branch his permanent home and purchased Anderson Drug, now Skelton Drug in 1955. Son, Joel, entered into business partnership with Leon in 1975. Known as ìSkellyî to most of his friends and customers, he retired in 1985, but continued to work part-time for several more years. Leon led an active full life. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, loved and respected. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially spending time at his cabin. He always had a project to ìputterî with. He will be sadly missed by his children, grandchildren and dog, Charlie. Leon is survived by his four children: Joel, Gary, Jan Parsons (husband Glenn), all of North Branch, and Scott (wife Denice) of Princeton; sic grandchildren: Erika (husband Steve), Andrea, Ashley, Megan, Laura and Matthew. Also surviving is one sister, Carmelita Bauer of Simi Valley, Calif. as well as several other relatives and friends. Leon is preceded in death by his wife Jeanette and brother Roland Skelton of Mora. ©ECM Post Review |
