Teen dance sponsors thanked

To the editor:
We would like to thank the many volunteers and businesses that helped to make the community-sponsored Teen Dances in North Branch a huge success during the 2002-2003 school year. Five dances were held over the course of the school year at North Branch High School for teens in grades 6-9. At the dances, teens enjoyed music, karaoke, friends, pop, prizes, and fun. The MADD Chapter of Chisago and Isanti Counties provided the teens with refreshments and the North Branch Police Department provided security at all the dances.
At each dance, we had an average of 80 youths in attendance from North Branch and surrounding communities. Many of the youths who attended commented that they enjoyed coming to the dances because ìthey felt safe and it was a fun place to hang out with their friends and listen to music.î
Due to the great success of the Teen Dances, look for them to continue next school year.
A warm and heartfelt thank you from all of us goes out to the following businesses and volunteers who helped to make the Teen Dances such a success and memorable experience for all who attended: North Branch Community Education, North Branch Police Department, MADD Chapter of Chisago and Isanti Counties, eMCee DJ & Karaoke, John and Kim Barney, Michelle Anderson, Jeff Yaw, Nancy Conger, Kerry Heiniemi, and Linnea Gervais.
