Girls continue to win on the links

The Rush City girls golf team tallied its best score of the season, toppling Hinckley-Finlayson in a dual meet April 29 at Hinckley Grand National. The meet was continued from a meet April 15, when the girls teams were forced to stop golfing due to lightning.
The girls recorded a low of 237 to defeat Hinckley, who finished with a 243 total.
The team was led by Roxanne Jennings, who was second overall with a 48. Heather Johnson scored a 62, while Tasha Truskolaski turned in a 63 and Asha Saari had a 64.
Head Coach Wayne Peshia said it was a nice win, but the team continues to work on turning in consistent scores throughout the roster.
The boys also golfed in the dual meet, with a team total of 192, behind Hinckleyís 159.
The boys were led by Brandon Rands with a 46. Willie Barth had a 47, Tim Morris finished with a 48 and Chris Lindstrom and Shaun Twingstrom each had a 51.
This week, the boys are scheduled to participate in the Siren Invitational Wednesday and a Great River Conference meet May 12. The girls will also compete at the GRC meet May 12 at Atkin.
