Visit a school and get involved

To the editor:
American Education Week is Nov. 16-22. The 2003 theme is ìGreat Public Schools for Every Child ñ Americaís Promise!î
The American Legion, The National Education Association and the Office of Education first observed this special week during Dec. 4-10 in 1921.
Since that date in 1921, the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary have been strong proponents of education and staff that supports that education.
Over the years we have promoted involvement and visitation in our schools.
Though the reasons for the initial activities have changed, these groups and others continue to lead the way in seeking the aid and assistance of every concerned American for better schools.
This yearís theme should remind each of us that we have a duty and a responsibility to see that our children are prepared to take up the roles of citizens and leaders in the year to come.
Visit a school - become involved in the activities of our children.
We say thank you to our educators and to every school district employee.
They all have an impact on the education of our children.
We are indebted to them for the ìGreat Public Schoolî we have in North Branch and for the very positive experienced they afford every child.
