Vikings and United Way looking for ëAll StarsíIf you are under age 18 and have a great idea for a project to improve your neighborhood, the Minnesota Vikings and Greater Twin Cities United Way may be able to help. The Vikings and United Way are introducing a new grant program called ěCommunity All-Starsî to help kids achieve their community service goals. The grants will range from $50-$500 and will go to projects of youths who are ready to make a difference in the lives of others. Some suggestions might be planting a garden at a senior center, rallying a team of volunteers for a playground clean-up project or repainting walls covered in graffiti in your neighborhood. The overall object is to inspire kids to invest in their community and show them the value of volunteering. Youths who want to submit an application must have an idea and a supporting 501-C3 non-profit group to receive and distribute the funds. Application forms, details of eligibility and information about the selection process can be found online at www.unitedwaytwincities.org or by calling Sarah Curtis at (612) 340-7526. Applications must be postmarked by Dec. 1. ©ECM Post Review |
