Marcella T. Williams

Marcella Elaine Trent Williams died at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minn. on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2003, at the age of 85 years.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Olson Chapel in Rush City with the Reverend Laurie OíShea officiating. Casket bearers were Frank Strelow, Jeffrey Carlbom, Corey Delcourt, Brad Carlbom, Micah Torrence, and Brian Mains.
Interment was at the First Lutheran Cemetery, Rush City, Minn.
Marcella was born to William and Rose (Nelson) Trent in St. Paul, Minn. on Dec. 17, 1917. She moved with her family to Rush Lake near Rush City, Minn. when she was in the 6th grade, and at that time continued her education at District No. 24 School through 8th grade.
She married Floyd Williams of Pine City, Minn. and they were blessed with two children, Dennis and Sandra.
Following Floydís death in November of 1960, Marcella continued to live in the area until 1965 when she moved with her children to Cav Creek, Arizona. While living there she was employed at the Carefree Inn, retiring after 14 years of service.
In 1980 she returned to Minnesota and lived in the Rush City area until 1998, when she moved to rural Braham, Minn.
Marcella loved and enjoyed doing many different crafts. She was well known for the delicious fruit cakes and beautiful quilts she made. She also enjoyed making latch hook rugs and doing puzzle books. Her favorite music was country western, and she loved reading Zane Grey novels. She enjoyed western movies, especially those starring John Wayne. She was always glad to help her daughter, Sandra, with bead work and was a collector of salt and pepper shakers. She kept busy caring for th children of family members and friends, and could always be depended on to help if there was a need. She enjoyed visiting with people and made many friends a the Rush City Senior Center.
Marcella is survived by her daughter, Sandra Lee Torrence of Rush City; her son, Dennis Williams of Louisiana; grandson Micah Torrence, Cambridge, Minn.; brother and sister-in-law, Earl & Margie Trent, Stillwater Minn.; sister Marlys Carlbom, Harris, Minn.; her nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Rose Trent; her husband, Floyd Williams; and her brother, Gerald Trent.
