David Duane Blomquist
David Duane (Sid) Blomquist, 45, was born in Springfield, IL on Sept. 30, 1957. He was the youngest of five children born to Emanual and Bernice (Bramscher) Blomquist. At that time, his father was attending Concordia Seminary. Following his fatherís ordination, they moved to McIntosh, MN (1962), Wood Lake, MN (1966), and Aitkin, MN (1974). He graduated from Aitkin High School in 1976, and attended the University of Minnesota, Institute of Technology. He was employed as Assistant Director of Engineering at TPT Public Television in St. Paul, MN He was baptized in the Christian faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Springfield, IL. He was confirmed at St. Lukes Lutheran in rural Wood Lake, MN in 1972. He married Lori Quale on Sept. 5, 1981 at St. Johnís Lutheran in Aitkin, MN. During their married life, they lived in Maple Grove, Blaine and Harris. He served on many committees at St. Johnís Lutheran in Rush City, and most recently was chairman of the Board of Elders. He is survived by his wife Lori, three sons, Eric, Kyle and Marc, all of Harris, two brothers, Barry (Donna) of Grand Rapids, MI, Rev. Rodney (Tami) of Taylorville, IL, one sister, Jane (Steve) Remiger of Wood Lake, MN and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Stephen. David was a loving and devoted husband and father. He was strong in his faith and dedicated to his church family. He had a strong interest in home renovation, and he started many projects before his death. David enjoyed many sports, of which basketball was his favorite. He died doing what he loved, playing basketball, on Friday morning Sept. 26, 2003. Funeral services for David Blomquist were held Tues., Sept. 30, 2003 at the St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Rush City with the Rev. Steve Tischer officiating. Music was provided by organist Richard Scheele and soloist Morris Engler. The honorary casket bearers included Davidís nieces and nephews; Erica Westvig, Erin, Joshua, Nathan, Matthew, Katie, Lisa, Brian Blomquist, Hope, Patrick Remiger. The active casket bearers were the remaining members of the St. Johnís Lutheran Church Board of Elderís; Ralph Marche, Carl Heinrich, Dwight Hahn and Gary Wendorf; and friends of Rick Isenor and David Haley with the interment in St. Johnís Lutheran Cemetery at Rush Lake. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City.
