Two earn all-conference h.m. for NB girls tennis

The North Branch girls tennis team will wrap up its season with a pair of matches this week, following a tough Rum River Conference match last Tuesday.
Singles players Kelsey OíHern and Danielle Sonnenfeld, at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, advanced to the final round of the RRC tourney. Both lost their matches, walking away with all-conference honorable mention honors.
Senior co-captains Shannon OíHern and Maren Anderson fell short by one round to be eliminated from the all-conference finals.
Head Coach Kristin Unverzagt said all the doubles teams played well, but were unable to advance to the final round.
On Sept. 25, the Vikings hosted Foley, in a rescheduled match from Sept.11.
The undefeated Rum River Conference Falcons downed the Vikes 6-1 in the match.
The highlight of the day was a win from Sonnenfeld in two sets, 6-4, 6-5. The match was called after three hours when darkness set in.
ìDanielle displayed great endurance to pull out the close victory,î Unverzagt said.
First doubles, Felicia Dehart and Chantell Sampson also played a great match coming out strong and playing tough doubles, especially in the second set.
They had a great net game and solid shot selection and placement.
Scores against Foley were:
1st Singles: Shannon O'Hern 1-6, 0-6
2nd Singles: Maren Anderson 1-6, 0-6
3rd Singles: Kelsey O'Hern 2-6, 1-6
