Board encourages you to vote
To the editor: Friends, colleagues, members of the community, as the school board of the North Branch Area School District we are asking you to make a commitment to the children of our school district. On Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, we will hold a levy referendum asking you to pledge additional monies for the school district to operate and for technology in our classrooms. The levy election is scheduled because the district is facing a financial dilemma. The state has frozen our revenue and costs continue to rise. Without your assistance we will be forced to make additional cuts for the 2004-2005 school year. By now you should have received the district mailing entitled CHOICE For the Future of Our Community. This educational tool highlights what the levy referendum will fund and potentially what will be cut if the referendum does not pass. It includes the basic facts about the levy referendum and will answer many of your questions. If you have specific questions about your tax impact visit the school districtís web site at www.northbranch.k12.mn.us, click on levy referendum and the go to the property tax calculator to determine your individual tax impact. We also encourage you to attend the Public Information Meeting this Thursday from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Main Street School Media Center. School Board Members and District Administrators will be on-hand to answer your questions about the levy referendum. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003 ń polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. We encourage you to vote on Election Day and ask you to make a commitment to the children of our school district.
